All six certifications are third-party verified and current: EN 13432 for EU industrial composting, OK Compost Industrial and OK Compost HOME from TÜV Austria, BPI certification for the US market, and AS 5810 (home compostable) and AS 4736 (industrial compostable) for Australia. You can reference any of these on your product with the correct logo and certification number. We supply certificate copies and the logos in the correct format for on-pack use. Note that composting claims require the bag to reach an industrial or home composting facility to be meaningful — they do not imply the bag disappears in the open environment.
Industrial composting operates at temperatures of 55–70 °C with controlled humidity and microbial activity; PLA/PBAT bags typically break down within 90–180 days in that environment. Home composting is cooler and less controlled; the AS 5810 and OK Compost HOME certifications confirm the bag breaks down in typical home compost conditions over a longer period, usually 6–12 months. If your target is a food-waste collection scheme that feeds an industrial composting plant, the industrial cert is what you need. If you are positioning as a home-composting solution, specify the HOME-certified logo on the bag and check your country's collection infrastructure.
Hot stamping applies a metallic foil to the bag surface in a single impression, which gives a premium tactile and visual finish that gravure ink cannot replicate. It is the decoration method used for gift bags, hotel amenity carriers and boutique retail handouts where first impression at the point of handover matters. If you need photographic multi-colour printing rather than a logo-and-foil treatment, pad printing or screen printing are available on the same bag structure — we will quote both if your artwork requires it.
In principle yes — the certified compostable status is what enables exemption or different levy treatment in markets such as Italy, France and some US states that have implemented compostable carrier provisions. However, the specific levy rules vary by jurisdiction and are updated frequently. We provide the certification documentation; your legal or compliance team should confirm the current levy status in each market before making that claim to shoppers.
PLA becomes brittle at temperatures below about 0–5 °C. In a standard chilled produce aisle at 4 °C the bag performs normally. In a deep-freeze aisle or cold-store environment the bag can crack at the handle die-cut points if handled roughly. We can adjust the PLA/PBAT ratio to increase cold-weather flexibility — tell us the minimum temperature in your application and we will confirm whether the standard blend is adequate or whether a modified formulation is more appropriate.
