HDPE is the right call for most supermarket produce and checkout applications: at the same load capacity it runs thinner and lighter, which matters when you buy by the thousand and pay freight by weight. LDPE is softer and easier to open under cold or greasy hands, so it suits deli counters and butchery where the bag is handled once and thrown away. LLDPE sits between the two and is worth specifying if puncture resistance is the main concern — for example, bags carrying fish trays or shellfish.
Single-material HDPE and LDPE vest bags go into the soft-plastic film collection stream that most supermarkets run in-store. They are not suitable for kerbside recycling bins. If recyclability messaging on the bag matters to your retail buyer, we will print the correct soft-plastics icon and keep the bag free of paper inserts or non-PE labels that would contaminate the stream.
At 1.5 mil (0.04 mm) the vest handle reliably carries 5–6 kg of loose produce in standard sizes. Step up to 2 or 2.5 mil for heavy items like root vegetables or bottled sauces where 7–8 kg is routine. We can run a drop and carry test on a sample batch and share the result before you commit to a full run — worth doing if you are replacing an existing bag and want to match the weight rating exactly.
Each size and each print design is set up as its own SKU, because every size change means a different film width and a re-laid print cylinder, so a five-size range is five separate specifications rather than one pooled run. If you are setting up a new store format and not yet sure of the size split, we can supply plain unprinted bags in all five sizes from stock to test throughput before you commit to a printed run.
The film is produced under ISO 9001 quality management. We do not attach FDA or EU food-contact declarations to this specific listing because the product is primarily used as an outer carrier rather than in direct prolonged food contact. If your market or retail customer requires a food-contact declaration — for example for a direct-contact produce application — tell us and we will specify a suitable food-grade film and supply the relevant documentation.
