Standard kraft paper handles moderate heat well — it is used widely for takeaway boxes, hot sandwiches and coffee cups. For direct contact with hot liquids or very greasy foods, we recommend specifying an inner PE coating or a grease-resistant liner, otherwise the bag base can soften and fail under sustained contact. If you are carrying a 500 ml hot coffee cup in the bag (indirect contact), the standard wall is adequate. If hot soup or oily containers will sit directly against the paper base for more than a few minutes, tell us and we will specify the right treatment.
A standard die-cut handle in 0.12 mm kraft is rated for typical retail and food-service loads — meal boxes and single bottles. For heavier loads (multiple bottles, full grocery fills above 2–3 kg), we recommend a reinforced handle with a card backing patch or switching to a twisted or flat paper handle with longer grip area. Send us the expected load and we will confirm the right handle specification before production.
Unlaminated or water-based-coated kraft bags are accepted in most kerbside paper recycling streams. Bags with a PE or BOPP lamination are mixed-material and generally need to go to general waste or specialist film recycling. If recyclability matters for your brand claim, specify unlaminated or water-based-coated kraft when ordering and we will confirm which certification the substrate carries.
Standard kraft carry bags are not supplied with a food-contact certificate by default. For carry bags where food sits directly inside the bag body without a separate container (e.g. loose bread, wrapped pastries), we recommend specifying an inner liner with a food-contact declaration. For indirect contact (takeaway container inside the bag), the standard kraft wall is acceptable for most food-service use. If your buyer or market requires a formal food-contact statement, tell us at enquiry stage and we will arrange the appropriate testing and documentation.
A dieline or the finished width, depth and height, the paper grade and wall thickness, the handle style, and print-ready artwork as AI, PDF or EPS with fonts outlined and images at 300 dpi. We lay the artwork onto our dieline, flag anything sitting too close to a fold or a handle punch, and return a digital proof for sign-off before plates are made. Pricing and order quantities are quoted against your specification — send your size, gauge, structure and artwork and we will come back with a costed offer and a lead time.
