No. The material is standard HDPE, LDPE or PE polyethylene — the same film used in conventional supermarket carrier bags. It carries no compostability certificate, and we will not put a compostable or biodegradable claim on a bag without a certificate behind it. If you need a certified compostable carrier, we make one on a separate line: a PLA/PBAT blend certified to EN 13432, BPI (ASTM D6400), Seedling and OK Compost.
HDPE gives the most stiffness and load capacity at the lowest weight per bag — the reason it dominates supermarket produce and checkout programmes globally. LDPE is softer and easier to open with wet or greasy hands, making it the preferred choice at deli, fish and prepared-foods counters. Standard PE is a catch-all term for co-extruded or blended films that balance the two; specify this if you want a single material across all service points. We will recommend based on your fill weight and counter environment.
Single-material PE and HDPE vest bags go into in-store soft-plastic film collection streams in most markets. They are not suitable for kerbside mixed-plastics bins. We print the correct soft-plastics drop-off logo and guidance on the bag for your market by default. Any paper insert, non-PE label or mixed-material gusset strip would compromise that recycling claim, so we keep the whole bag in one polymer family.
We supply our ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, BSCI, SEDEX and WCA certificates with every carrier bag programme. Where your retail buyer requires documented food contact, we specify a food-contact grade held to FDA 21 CFR 177 and issue the declaration with the order; for an EU destination we arrange migration testing at an accredited laboratory, including one the buyer nominates. Add that requirement to your enquiry and we will quote it alongside the standard specification — for basic carrier use without direct prolonged food contact, standard PE film is typically adequate.
Sample orders run in 7–14 days including a simple logo print. For a full multi-colour gravure sample, cylinder engraving adds time — allow 14 days for the first printed proof. Once cylinders are approved, repeat orders are faster. If you are evaluating the bag before placing a bulk order, we recommend starting with a plain stock sample to check size and gauge, then approving the printed proof before the main run.
