No, and we would rather say so plainly than sell you a claim you cannot defend. PBAT-based film does break down under industrial composting conditions, but the only certification we can put in your hands for this bag covers food contact — FDA 21 CFR 177 — not compostability. We do not print a compostable or biodegradable claim on a pack with no numbered certificate behind it, because that is exactly the claim that gets a retail listing pulled. If your market or your retailer needs the claim, ask us to quote a certified compostable structure carrying EN 13432, ASTM D6400, BPI or OK Compost, supplied against the order.
FDA 21 CFR 177 covers the food-contact safety of the plastic materials themselves — migration of components from the film into food, tested against US regulatory limits. It says nothing about end-of-life, recyclability or compostability, and it is not a European approval. It is the right document for a US grocery or takeaway buyer who needs a bag in direct contact with unwrapped food, and we send copies for your audit file. We can arrange migration testing at an accredited laboratory — including one your buyer nominates — and issue the food-contact declaration against the order.
Yes. Send vector artwork as AI, PDF or EPS with fonts converted to outlines and any Pantone references named; if you only have a logo and a copy deck, we set the layout up from that. We return a dieline-based digital proof first, then a printed proof from the engraved cylinders for colour sign-off before the press run. Remember that the regulatory and disposal text on a carrier bag is your responsibility as the brand owner — tell us which market the bags are for and we will lay out the panel, but we will not invent a claim for it.
PBAT (polybutylene adipate terephthalate) is a flexible copolymer, partly derived from bio-based feedstock, used here because it gives a soft, quiet, tear-resistant bag at low gauge. We hold no compostability or biodegradability certificate for this film, so we make no end-of-life claim for it and your on-pack copy should not either — an unsupported claim is what gets a retail listing pulled. It is also not accepted in the soft-plastics film recycling stream. Direct your customers to local waste guidance, and if a certified end-of-life claim is essential in your market, ask us to quote a certified structure instead.
PBAT-based film is softer and more flexible than HDPE at equivalent thickness. For typical grocery loads of 3–6 kg the vest handle performs similarly. Above that, we recommend specifying a thicker gauge — send us the anticipated fill weight and bag dimensions and we will recommend a thickness that keeps the handle comfortable and the bottom sealed under load.
