If you use a chamber (bell) vacuum sealer — where the whole bag sits inside a chamber that is evacuated — use smooth bags. If you use an external clamp sealer (FoodSaver-type, counter-top units where only the open end of the bag goes into the machine) — use embossed bags. Using smooth film in an external sealer will result in an incomplete vacuum because the film collapses and blocks air movement before evacuation is done.
For aged cheese that needs to breathe slightly, a PA/PE or PET/PE with a moderate WVTR allows some moisture exchange that is appropriate for rinds to develop. For waxed or bloomy-rind cheese packed under full vacuum, a higher barrier AL/PE or PET/PA/AL/CPP eliminates oxygen and blocks light, which slows rancidity and surface mould. Tell us the cheese type, intended shelf life and whether it is rind-on or rind-off, and we will recommend the right structure.
Yes. We can laminate a clear PET or PA window into an otherwise opaque or metallised film, giving a defined viewing zone on the front panel. This is popular for premium cuts where the brand values opacity for light protection but the retailer wants some product visibility. Send us a dieline showing the window position and size.
Start from the product rather than from a catalogue step. Portioned boneless cuts, cheese and cooked product sit comfortably at 0.06 to 0.09 mm. Bone-in cuts, shellfish, whole fish and anything with a sharp shell or rib end need 0.12 mm or more, and the same applies where packs are stacked deep in a crate or shipped long distance. Fill weight, transit duration and whether the pack is frozen all push the gauge up. Send us the product, its weight, the vacuum level you pull and how the packs are handled after sealing, and we will specify a gauge and back it with a plain-bag trial before you commit to a printed structure.
Yes. Every structure here is built from food-contact grades and we hold FDA 21 CFR 177, with the plant running under BRC, ISO 22000 and HACCP; all film grades in the range are BPA-free. For sale into the EU we arrange migration testing at an accredited laboratory — including one you nominate — and issue the declaration against your order for the exact structure you specify. Advise your market at enquiry stage and the documentation is prepared with the sample.
