The film is food-grade PE, suitable for direct ice contact, and the facility runs under BRC Packaging Materials and ISO 9001. Certificates for both are supplied with the order. We do not carry a standing food-contact declaration for this specific bag. We can arrange migration testing at an accredited laboratory — including one your buyer nominates — and issue the food-contact declaration against the order. Tell us your target market and we will confirm what documentation is available and include it with the shipment.
At 300 micron this is a substantially heavier gauge than the 30–50 micron used for thin disposable ice bags. That thickness makes the bag robust enough to carry a full load of ice cubes without distorting, and to resist puncture from sharp cube edges during filling and transport. It is the right specification for a self-seal retail ice bag; a thinner gauge would be appropriate for wicket-fill or machine-fill operations with softer handling.
The press-seal strip is adhesive-backed and designed to bond at ambient temperature. It should be sealed before the bag is placed in a freezer, not after. In very cold conditions adhesion is reduced, so the process for filling lines is: fill at room temperature, seal, then freeze or transfer to a cold display. The seal holds through the full freeze cycle once it has bonded.
The cube count is set by the compartment geometry of the bag, which can be adjusted in the tooling. Custom compartment counts are possible on new tooling, which adds a tooling stage to the schedule before the first production run. For the standard 24, 25 and 28 counts the tooling already exists and bags go straight into production.
BRC Global Standard for Packaging is widely accepted by European and UK food retailers, and increasingly recognised by North American food companies that sell into international channels. It covers the packaging manufacturing process rather than just the material, so it gives a buyer confidence in the whole production system. If your buyer specifically requires an FDA-registered facility or SQF certification, that is a different requirement — tell us and we will advise honestly whether we can meet it.
