Dried noodles and pasta are sensitive to moisture — absorbed water makes them stick together and go soft — but have low oxygen sensitivity. A typical structure is OPP/PE (oriented polypropylene outer + PE sealant) or PA/PE (nylon + PE), which gives excellent moisture barrier at low cost. If the product is pre-cooked and needs a longer oxygen-protected shelf life, we would step up to a structure incorporating an EVOH or metallised barrier layer. Tell us the product, target shelf life and storage conditions and we will specify the right laminate.
Yes. The heat seal on multi-layer composite laminates holds its bond under the pressure differential of both chamber and nozzle vacuum sealers. The gusset folds close under vacuum, which is actually an advantage — the bag conforms tightly to the product shape and presents well on shelf after vacuum sealing. Confirm your sealing bar temperature and dwell settings with us when you order, as the sealant layer specification determines the correct window.
An accordion (organ) gusset is a series of horizontal fold pleats on the sides of the bag that extend outward in a concertina pattern when the bag is filled. Unlike a simple side gusset — which is a single fold — the accordion allows a much larger volume increase and lets the bag stand upright on its base without a separate bottom panel. For long products like noodles or skewers, the accordion format keeps the product lying flat inside the bag rather than bunching at the bottom.
We need four things: the bag dimensions (width, height and gusset depth — or tell us the fill weight and product shape and we will calculate), the product type and shelf life target, the printing requirement (number of colours, whether you have artwork), and the quantity. With that, we usually respond with a quote within 24 hours. If you have an existing bag you want matched exactly, send us the physical sample and we will measure and replicate it.
This structure is a custom laminate, and we do not carry a standing food-contact certificate for it. The resins are sourced food-grade and the same structure runs for noodles, nuts and pet food. If your buyer or your market requires a documented food-contact declaration, tell us at enquiry stage. We can arrange migration testing at an accredited laboratory — including one your buyer nominates — and issue the food-contact declaration against the order. It adds a step to the lead time rather than a barrier, and it is far better to build it in now than to have a retail listing questioned later.
