The laminate is built from food-contact grades and the structure is cleared under FDA 21 CFR 177, which covers the US market. For Europe the document a retail buyer wants is a migration declaration tied to the actual structure and the actual food, so we arrange the migration testing at an accredited laboratory — including a laboratory you or your retail customer nominate — and issue the declaration against your order. Give us the contact food, the fill weight and the intended shelf life at enquiry stage and we will scope the test programme before production starts.
A side-gusset flat-bottom pouch has additional width panels on each side in addition to the base panel — this makes the filled bag noticeably wider on the shelf than a standard doypack or a flat-bottom bag without side gussets. For 500 g and 1 kg coffee, that extra width is a billboard. For small single-serve sizes under 100 g, the extra gusset material is not needed and we would suggest a simpler stand-up format.
BRCGS (formerly BRC Global Standard) is one of the most widely recognised food-safety and packaging standards — it is on the GFSI-benchmarked list that Tesco, Walmart, Aldi and other major chains accept in lieu of an own-audit. Supplying from a BRCGS-certified facility means the buyer's quality team can accept the audit certificate rather than scheduling a factory visit, which shortens the supplier-approval timeline significantly.
Yes. A rectangular or oval clear PET window can be cut into the front panel of the metallised structure. The window removes the light barrier at that area, so it is a trade-off — whole beans look premium through a window, but they are more susceptible to light-induced staling. A small window is a reasonable compromise for high-turnover specialty retail; for long shelf-life or bulk formats, full opacity is the safer choice.
No. The 100% PE option is available for buyers who need a single-material recyclable structure. Its barrier performance is lower than the PET/VMPET/PE laminate — adequate for short shelf-life products or ambient-stable items, but not for freshly roasted coffee that needs 6–12 months shelf life. If recyclability is the priority, we will be honest about the barrier trade-off and recommend a shorter replenishment cycle.
