Standard coffee pouches run at 0.10–0.15 mm. A 0.3–1 mm gauge builds in additional film plies or uses a thicker laminate construction — the result feels rigid and substantial in the hand, more like a carton than a bag. For premium single-origin or gift-pack coffee, that tactile experience signals quality before the consumer reads a word of copy. It is not a barrier advantage — barrier comes from the VMPET or AL ply, not the overall thickness — so if your priority is moisture and oxygen protection rather than unboxing feel, a standard-gauge pouch is the rational choice.
The longer lead time reflects gravure cylinder engraving for the metallic substrate, which requires more careful registration than standard film, plus quality-hold time for the thick-gauge lamination to cure fully before bag-making. Rushing the lamination on a heavy-gauge bag causes delamination. If you have a firm launch date, allow 45 days from artwork approval to be safe.
Yes, with the right lighting. Metallic surfaces are reflective, so diffuse lighting (a light tent or a ring light) prevents hot spots. Hard directional lighting creates glare that obscures the print. We can share photography guidelines for metallic pouches on request. If the product will be sold primarily online, matte overlaminate on the printed areas dramatically reduces photography difficulty while keeping the metallic sheen on bare areas.
Gravure printing can match Pantone solid colours to a high standard on a metallic substrate. True Pantone metallic inks (the 8xx and 9xx series) require a specialised gravure ink formulation, which we confirm case by case. Send the Pantone reference at enquiry stage and we will confirm match-ability before the artwork is finalised.
The metallic BOPP/VMPET/PE laminate is a dry-fill structure. For cold-brew concentrate in liquid form, you need a different seal configuration and a PE sealant rated for aqueous products. The valve is designed for gas venting only — it is not a liquid-tight feature. This bag is suitable for whole beans, ground coffee, freeze-dried coffee and similar dry or semi-dry products.
