The film is food-grade LDPE — the appropriate base material for direct ice contact. Food-contact declarations and migration test reports from an accredited laboratory are issued per structure against an order. If your customer or regulatory authority requires documented food-contact compliance, tell us your market and we will arrange the testing and provide the paperwork with the first production order.
The bag is filled by placing it under a tap or filling each compartment individually with water, then sealing and placing it flat in the freezer. When the ice is frozen, the bag is twisted to release cubes from their compartments, then the top is opened. The 30-micron LDPE is thin enough that the twist-and-release technique works without force; a heavier gauge would not release as cleanly.
Not as this product. A self-seal ice cube bag is plain food-grade LDPE, and we do not label it compostable or biodegradable because it holds no EN 13432, ASTM D6400 or BPI certificate. We also will not supply degradant additives, which are restricted in the EU and would in any case leave you with a film that fragments rather than composts. If your market genuinely requires a certified compostable ice bag we will quote a certified compostable film as a separate structure, with the certificate supplied against the order.
Yes. Plain clear bags can be with you within 10 days for a trial. Custom-printed bags need print-cylinder or plate preparation first, so allow additional time for artwork approval and proof sign-off before production. Mixing plain and printed bags in the same shipment is possible.
Ice in a sealed LDPE bag in a frost-free freezer does not evaporate noticeably and does not absorb odours from adjacent items, which means the bag can stay in the freezer until needed. Without a sealed top closure, ice will slowly sublimate. Seal the bag after filling and the ice quality holds for a standard domestic or commercial freezer cycle.
