The 21-inch bag holds roughly twice the filling volume of a 16-inch bag, which matters in production settings where stopping to refill is a real time cost. For a cake decorator filling 50 dessert cups with pastry cream, two or three large bags can replace ten or more smaller ones. The larger bag also gives more leverage for very stiff fillings because your hands grip the bag further from the tip, reducing the mechanical disadvantage. For detailed work — fine writing, small flowers — a smaller 12 or 16-inch bag is the better choice.
The colour is in the film, not a coating on the food-contact surface. LDPE food-grade film at standard pigment levels does not transfer colour to the filling. If your specific application involves an extremely acidic filling or a solvent-containing food preparation (some flavourings) and you have concerns, request an uncoloured clear bag and confirm food-contact suitability for your exact product at the quotation stage.
The equilateral triangle format (12, 16 and 18-inch) is a different shape — the cone is more symmetrical and the flat panels give good grip for fine control work. The 21-inch bags are optimised for high-volume production where fill capacity and speed of access from the roll matter more than fine control. A professional bakery typically uses both: large rolls for cream and mousse filling work, triangle bags for decoration detail. Both are available from this product family.
Yes. LDPE piping bags are widely used in professional catering for savoury portioning — mashed potato roses, brandade, pâté rosettes and similar. The bag has no odour of its own and does not impart any flavour to the product. Wash your hands and use clean bags for each flavour change as you would for any direct food-contact equipment.
LDPE film stored in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight will remain fully serviceable for two years or more. UV exposure degrades LDPE over time and makes the film brittle, so store rolls in their carton and do not leave them near windows or under direct artificial UV. If you work through rolls within six months of purchase, shelf life is not a practical concern.
