The kraft paper body can go into paper recycling, but the clear film window is a different material. Mixed-material composites are not accepted in standard kerbside paper recycling in most markets. If full recyclability is important to your customers, we can discuss a window-free format or a water-based barrier coating that keeps the bag in the paper stream — though both affect product visibility or moisture resistance.
We do not recommend sealing a hot sandwich in this bag. Steam from a hot filling will cause the paper to go limp and the adhesive seal to weaken. The bag is designed for cool or ambient-temperature products. For hot-hold sandwich packaging, a grease-resistant paper wrap or a vented box is more appropriate.
Through a normal counter day. Kraft breathes, so a warm filled sandwich releases steam through the paper instead of sweating against a film wall, and the bread crust stays dry for longer than it would in a sealed poly bag. The trade-off is that it is not a barrier pack: expect four to six hours on an ambient counter for a fresh sandwich, or a chilled display day for a pre-packed one. For anything that needs a stated multi-day shelf life you want a sealed barrier structure rather than a self-adhesive paper bag.
The bags use food-grade kraft paper and a food-contact window film, and the structure is covered by FDA 21 CFR 177 for the US market. For sale into the EU — Germany in particular, where buyers hold material paperwork tightly — we arrange migration testing at an accredited laboratory, including one you nominate, and issue the declaration against your order. Tell us the destination market when you enquire so we can book the testing early.
The adhesive strip is on the inside of the top flap and makes contact with the outer surface of the bag, not with the product. Grease from the filling that migrates to the outer surface of the bag near the seal line can reduce adhesion over time. For very oily products such as fried pastries or heavily dressed sandwiches, we recommend a tin-tie or heat-seal closure, which is not affected by surface grease.
