A standard impulse sealer rated for foil laminates is sufficient — most bench-top sealers found in delis and food processors work without modification. For vacuum packing, you need a vacuum-chamber sealer rather than a nozzle (external) sealer, because the nozzle type cannot achieve the seal pressure needed for a full-foil bag. Check that your chamber sealer has a sealing bar temperature setting that can handle PET outer film — typically 160–200 °C. We can advise the starting seal window if you share your machine model.
Functionally yes — both are aluminium foil laminates with high oxygen and moisture barrier. The difference is in specification: consumer-market mylar bags are often sold in fixed sizes with no branding. What we supply here is custom-printed, custom-sized food-grade bags with OEM branding, intended for professional food processors and retail brands. If you are storing food for more than two years, specify the thickness and tell us the oxygen-transmission target and we will confirm whether the standard build is adequate.
Yes, provided you specify the temperature range at order stage. Standard PET/AL/PE is suitable for refrigerated (0–4 °C) and short-cycle frozen storage. For deep-freeze products (below −18 °C) that will be sealed warm and pulled from a freezer repeatedly, we recommend a low-temperature PE sealant grade — standard PE becomes brittle at deep-freeze temperatures and the seal may crack on flexing. We will confirm the right sealant grade before production.
Yes. The outer PET surface accepts up to 10-colour gravure printing with high registration accuracy. Nutrition tables, barcodes (EAN-13 and QR), allergen statements and weight declarations are all standard content for food bags. Send your content in a print-ready AI or PDF file; we will apply it to the dieline and issue a digital proof for approval. If you only have a Word or label-design file, our studio can rebuild it at no additional cost.
No. PET/AL/PE is a mixed-material laminate and is not accepted by film-recycling or foil-recycling streams in any major market. It goes to general waste. This is an inherent limitation of the full-barrier foil structure — the same layers that give maximum oxygen and moisture protection make end-of-life recovery impossible with current infrastructure. If recyclability is a requirement, the barrier will need to be reduced and we would discuss alternative structures honestly, including their limitations for your specific product.
