Heavy-gauge construction is specifically what separates professional-grade piping bags from thin retail bags. The thicker film resists the internal pressure that builds when you push a dense filling through a small tip opening. For extremely stiff fillings such as cold ganache or dense almond cream, we recommend the larger bag sizes (18 or 20 inch) so you work with lower fill volume and less leverage against the seam. If you need even heavier gauge than our standard, tell us the filling type and nozzle size and we can specify accordingly.
12-inch bags suit cupcake swirls, small cookie decoration and detailed work where control matters more than capacity. 16 and 18-inch bags are the workhorses for layering a whole cake or filling a large batch of éclairs in a single charge. 20-inch bags are used primarily for very large-batch catering situations — filling multiple profiteroles without stopping — or for caterers using the bag as a portion-control dispenser for mashed potato or mousse. Most professional bakeries keep two sizes in rotation.
Yes. The film is food-grade polyethylene and is safe for direct contact with buttercream, fresh cream, pastry cream and other high-fat confectionery fillings, held to FDA 21 CFR 177 and produced under our BRCGS, HACCP and ISO 22000 systems. For an EU market we arrange migration testing at an accredited laboratory — including one you nominate — and issue the declaration against your order; raise it at the quotation stage so the testing is completed before production.
Yes. Print is typically one or two colours on the bag body, applied to the film before the bag is formed, so the ink sits on the outer face and never contacts the filling. Send an AI, PDF or high-resolution JPG logo and we return a proof laid out against the bag dieline for sign-off. Plain bags remain available alongside the printed ones, which is the practical way to validate the gauge and length on your own decorating work before the branded stock is made.
Send us the measurements of your current bag — length, width at the widest point and wall thickness if you can measure it — along with the filling you use and the nozzle tip size. We will match or improve on those specifications. The most reliable approach is to order a sample carton and run it on your actual production work before committing to volume.
