The zipper and moisture-proof seal keep humidity out, which is the primary cause of nut softening. However, a clear bag does not block light — UV and visible light accelerate oxidation of the oils in nuts, especially walnuts and pine nuts. For display periods under two weeks in standard retail lighting, a clear bag is typically fine. For longer shelf life or high-light environments, we recommend a metallised or aluminium foil structure with a clear window, not a fully transparent bag. We will tell you honestly which is appropriate for your shelf-life target.
Start from the fill weight and the bulk density of the product — nuts, coated confectionery and freeze-dried fruit fill very differently at the same weight. Send us a sample or the density figure and we will tell you which of the five stock dielines fits with sensible headspace for the zipper to close cleanly. Stock sizes run on existing tooling and go straight to production, so unless your filling line needs a specific mouth width or a fixed shelf footprint, a stock dieline is the faster route. Where a custom size is genuinely needed we build the dieline to your filler and send it for sign-off before anything is made.
The largest standard size (35 x 30 + 8 cm) is rated for fills up to approximately 3 kg with the standard punched handle. Above 2 kg, we strongly recommend requesting the reinforced patch option — a separate PE patch bonded across the handle cut, which distributes the load across more film area and prevents tear-out. We build the reinforced patch in as standard wherever the specification calls for a heavy fill.
Yes. Reverse printing on the inside of the outer PET film layer is standard — the ink is protected between the laminate plies, so it cannot be scratched off or contaminated with the product. For a fully clear bag, print on the back panel is the common choice, leaving the front clear for product visibility. Full wraparound print is also available but will reduce transparency on the printed panels.
Yes. PET/PE is food-grade and widely used for confectionery. Sugar does not migrate through PE sealant under normal ambient conditions. For confectionery with high moisture content (such as chewy sweets or mochi), check the water activity — high-aw products can soften the PE sealant over time. For dry hard candy, chocolate-coated nuts and similar low-moisture products, PET/PE is appropriate.
