Retort processing typically runs at 121°C for 30–60 minutes (F0 value 3–6) at elevated pressure. The aluminium foil structure handles these conditions well for standard ready-meal applications. For higher-temperature short-time retort at 135°C, or for pouches containing bone-in or sharp-edged contents, specify this at enquiry stage so we can select the correct laminate thickness and sealant grade — a mis-specified structure can delaminate or seal-fail under process pressure.
Aluminium foil blocks microwave energy, so the standard VMPET/AL/PE laminate is not suitable for microwave heating in a domestic or commercial microwave oven. For boil-in-bag or steam-heating in a water bath or combi oven this structure works well. If microwave heating from the pouch is a product requirement, specify a foil-free structure (typically PET/PA/PE) at enquiry stage — we will quote the appropriate material.
Yes. The heat-seal sealant layer is compatible with standard vacuum chamber bag sealers as well as inline vacuum-fill-seal lines. The key variable is seal-bar temperature — foil laminates typically need a slightly higher dwell time and temperature than PA/PE bags. Send your machine model and we will supply a starting seal window with the first delivery.
The laminate is built from food-contact grades and we work to FDA 21 CFR 177 for the US market, supported by our BRCGS, HACCP and ISO 22000 systems. For sale into the EU we arrange migration testing at an accredited laboratory — including one you nominate — and issue the declaration against your order. Tell us the destination market and the retort cycle at enquiry stage and we will confirm the documentation and validation records supplied with the shipment.
Send AI, PDF or CDR files and we return a blank dieline built to your pouch dimensions, with the seal zones, spout or notch position and the safe print area marked. You sign off the dieline first, then a digital colour proof. Only after that sign-off is anything committed to press. Digital printing carries no cylinder step, so short or seasonal runs can go straight from proof to production; gravure requires an engraved cylinder set per colour and is the route for a settled design that repeats, because colour holds run to run.
